Frequently Asked Questions

Why is it called Cotton Bacon? Does it contain any pork?

We get this question more than you might imagine! The answer is no, our cotton contains no pork. The name was inspired by the fact that our cotton comes in “strips” instead of balls, and during the early product development days some people thought the strips resembled strips of bacon!

Is Cotton Bacon marketed for use in tobacco or nicotine products?

Cotton Bacon products are not intended for use with tobacco or nicotine products in the United States. Any such use is strictly prohibited by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA). The products advertised on this website for U.S. distribution are intended for use only with devices used with non-tobacco and non-nicotine materials and liquids.

Is Cotton Bacon marketed for use in any vape devices?

Yes! In the U.S. Cotton Bacon is marketed for wicking vape devices that do not contain tobacco or nicotine products, such as CBD and THC vaping. Our cotton undergoes a rigorous cleaning and purification process that removes all oils, impurities, contaminants, and pesticides, leaving the cotton virtually tasteless and perfect for use in non-tobacco and non-nicotine vape devices.

What else is Cotton Bacon used for?

Cotton Bacon has a wide range of uses that extend to anything you might purchase and use cotton balls for. From removing nail polish and cosmetics, to craft products, to cleaning, its uses are virtually unlimited! The primary difference between Cotton Bacon and regular cotton balls is the quality of the cotton used, and that our cotton comes in strips, or bundles, instead of balls. The unique “strip” form factor is ideal for situations where you might need to thread or pull cotton through a small opening during cleaning, for rolling your own custom cotton swabs, and even for replacing the rayon inside a Zippo lighter – just to name a few! Cotton Bacon is also specifically designed to absorb faster and hold more liquid than regular cotton balls, which can make any task it’s used for faster and more efficient.

Is Cotton Bacon sterile or medical grade?

No. Our cotton does go through an extensive cleaning and purification process, however like most cotton balls you’d buy at the pharmacy or grocery store it is not medical/surgical grade and it is not sterile. Hospitals and doctors use specialty cotton balls which are sterile and have special manufacturing requirements.

Is Cotton Bacon organic?

No. Sourcing organic cotton is significantly more expensive than non-organic, and considering the typical uses of our cotton it is not cost effective or necessary to use organic cotton. Our cotton undergoes a rigorous cleaning and purification process to remove all contaminants, oils, and pesticides, so while it is not organic, it is extremely pure, clean 100% natural cotton.

Is Cotton Bacon Japanese cotton?

No. While Japanese cotton does have a premium, high quality reputation within the cotton world, we do not use it for the same reasons we do not source organic cotton – essentially there is not enough of a benefit to warrant the additional cost. Our goal is to provide our customers with a quality cotton product for as reasonable a price as possible, and using Japanese cotton does not serve that goal.
